We’re building a college in Haiti

The Canadian and US automotive industry have joined together to help create a collision repair program in Haiti. In coordination with Haiti ARISE Technical Institute we hope to provide quality and practical education and hands-on training in skilled trades and technical studies to the people of Haiti.

Haiti Arise Collision Industry Project

The Canadian and US automotive industry have joined together to help support a very worthy cause abroad. The Haiti ARISE Technical Institute exists to provide quality and practical education and hands-on training in skilled trades and technical studies to the people of Haiti. The original school facility had just been completed before the January 12, 2010 earthquake, which severely damaged it beyond repair. Now, we are bringing the first-ever education in Collision Repair to Haiti. In January 2019 a group of industry representatives traveled to Haiti for a ground breaking ceremony, and to meet with the technical college Dean and the construction manager.

Like anything that is worth doing, it has taken patience and perseverance, and more than anything, a strong belief in the importance of getting this project to “go”. The initiative was agreed upon in 2014, when Marc Honarate was invited to speak at a CCIF Meeting in January and shared his touching and inspiring story. As a rescued slave child, Marc has dedicated his life to helping the people of Haiti; bringing them hope and faith; and creating an opportunity for education and therefore a means to improve the lives of individual, families, a community, and the country.
